Who we are
Hall and Stott are an independent student law textbook publisher, based near Bath. You can find out a bit more about us here.
Our Books
Hall and Stott’s textbooks aim to explain the principles of the law in clear and detailed terms and to encourage greater understanding so that students can appreciate the context behind the subject and become confident in their ability to solve problems. Our books focus on:
- providing a sound base level of knowledge of the substantive law.
- adding to this knowledge to ensure that students can apply the substantive law using various skills in different contexts.
- showing students how to engage with the subject and critically evaluate and consider the implications of the law in any given scenario.
Our textbooks are aimed at students on both LLB and PgDL courses, with reference to the SQE1 syllabus. Further information on the subjects covered can be found in both the H&S bookshop and our digital collection.
Law Student Hub
At Hall and Stott, we believe that it is important for students to be armed with the tools they need not only to succeed in their studies but also in their career as a whole and so we’re creating a ‘Law Student Hub’ with a variety of helpful tips and resources for students to access. We'll cover as many topics as we can, such as:
- Study/exam tips
- Careers advice
- Preparing for the SQE
- Commercial awareness
- Coping with exam stress
- Vacation schemes
- Training contract seats
- Legal work experience
We aim to create a hub that students can refer to and continue to use throughout both their studies and their careers. Combining our textbooks with an online library of articles focused on subjects taught outside the classroom, we hope to provide an all-encompassing service so that students can use our website for advice on all areas of both their studies and their careers.
Who is this blog for?
Whether you are in the first year of your degree or have already graduated and are undertaking your LPC/SQE, we aim to provide relevant content that can assist you in your studies. Similarly, if you are not currently studying at all and are either considering starting a law degree or are thinking about a career change, our articles based on career advice, commercial awareness, and training contracts at law firms may be the right fit for you.
We hope that we can provide a hub of resources to support you at every single stage of your career. We will be publishing all blog posts to our website and will also be featuring some of them on our LinkedIn page. If there is a particular topic that you are keen to hear more about or would like some advice on, please do reach out! We would love to hear from students on what most interests them and what you would like to hear more of.
